Amazon Fund grants USD 48.10 million to new projects

Brasília – The Fundo Amazônia (Amazon Fund) opened this Wednesday (9) a public call to conservation and forest sustainable use projects focusing in productive sustainable activities. Up to ten projects will be chosen by Amazônia Legal and they will receive from BRL 10 million (USD 3.21 million) to BRL 30 million (USD 9.62 million). The total amount granted reaches BRL 150 million (USD 48.10 million).

The fund is managed by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, and receives funds from donations, which are forwarded to preservation, monitoring and fighting against deforesting and promotion of conservation and forest sustainable use. In its 8 years, the fund already granted near BRL 1.4 billion (USD 450 million) to 89 projects from several sectors and regions of the Amazon.
