Fitch keeps Brazil under negative outlook

10/11/2017 at 18:07h

Brasília – Six months after its last assessment, risk rating agency Fitch Ratings said on Friday (10) that it has kept Brazil’s rating as BB with a negative outlook. The country remains two grades below investment grade.

A negative outlook means a country could be downgraded any time. According to Fitch, several factors are in place that justify its concern with Brazil’s fiscal situation, such as structural public finance weakness, high government debt levels, weak growth perspectives and weaker corporate governance indicators than in similar emerging countries.
