A Brazilian couture shop in Lebanon

B Moda, owned by Bia Adem, carries skirts, dresses, jackets, trousers, shirts and even furs. The items, purchased by the store owner herself in countries like Turkey and Norway, are for women of all ages.

São Paulo – Brazil’s Bia Adem was always into fashion. During her trips, she would often buy clothes for her friends, who admired the way she dressed. Living in Lebanon for 20 years, she spent four years selling clothing informally – until she finally decided to make a business out of it. Two months ago, she launched B Moda, a couture shop for women.

The clothes are chosen by the store owner herself

“I sell clothes for people all ages. My customers are various,” she says. The shop carries jackets, dresses, trousers, shirts, skirts, scarves and even rabbit furs. Adem likes to choose each of the items on her store personally. She brings them from trips she takes twice a year to places like Turkey and Norway.

She claims he always looks for items that are “worthwhile.” According to Adem, she favors clothing that’s “well cut, fits nicely and has quality.” Dresses are her favorites. “When you have a nice dress on, you don’t need anything else. It is the single most important piece in your wardrobe,” she says.

The business owner also considers travelling to other countries looking for dresses for her store. Her plans include France, Spain as potentially new clothing suppliers for B Moda.

“Brazil makes beautiful summer fashion. I want my store to offer highly cosmopolitan items,” she claims. At the shop, besides clothing, Adem sells body creams, and purses and accessories are in the plans.

Most of her clientele is Brazilian, and Adem often buys pieces of clothing with them in mind. “I have clients who trust my good taste,” she says.

Besides the Brazilians, Adem sells to Lebanese women who are referred to her store. She says the local women “care a lot about the way they look.” “Lebanon exports haute couture and Lebanese women are fashionable, “she points out.

According to her, some clients seek out the shop when special events are taking place, while others get in touch whenever they want new clothes. At B Moda, items range from USD 20 to USD 300.
