Brazilian university’s seminar to cover the internet of things

A discussion on the use of the technology in agribusiness, healthcare and industry is set for next Tuesday at University of São Paulo. Michel Alaby, the Arab Chamber’s CEO, will be one of the speakers.

São Paulo – Next Tuesday (30), the Office of the Pro Dean of Research of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Automation and Technology Information Group of the Polytechnic School of USP (Gaesi) will hold the seminar Application of the Internet of Things in Agribusiness, Healthcare and Industry. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Brasiliana Library, at the São Paulo campus (University City).

The event plans to discuss the impact in these sectors of the so-called “fourth industrial revolution”, a concept that derives from the elimination, via technology, of the limits between the digital, physical and biological worlds. The idea is to encourage the exchange of experiences between state agencies, education and research institutions and companies with the goal to secure the integration of Brazil in this new reality.

According to the organizers, the program is aimed at executives, managers, technical professionals, professors, researchers and graduate and post-graduate students from the engineering, technology and management areas.

Among the topics to be discussed is the use of technology to reduce red tape in foreign trade. One of the speakers will be the CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, who will talk about the Chamber’s adoption of online procedures, especially in document certification and certificate of origin services. According to him, this cut costs, saves time and reduces the risk of forgery.

Among the speakers are also the minister of Development, Foreign Trade and Services, Marcos Pereira; professor Eduardo Mario Dias, Gaesi’s coordinator; the secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Jhonatan Almada; the secretary of Agriculture of São Paulo State, Arnaldo Jardim; the CEO of Brazilian Meat Packers Association (Abrafrigo), Péricles Pessoa Salazar; the president of Inmetro, Carlos Augusto de Azevedo; and others.

The talks are scheduled to take place throughout the day and the programme is available at the event’s website (www.sasi40.org), where those interested can register for free to participate.
