Petrobras raises gas prices
The company’s refineries are now charging 8.1% more for gas and 9.5% more for diesel. The price raise was to align it with the increase in oil international prices.
Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras raised in 8.1% the price of gas in its refineries this Friday (6). The prices for diesel also went up 9.5%. The decision was made this Monday (5) during a meeting of the company’s Markets and Prices Executive Group, based on the company’s new price policy, which calls for a price review every 30 days.
The price increase impacts fuel distributors directly and they have to decide if they pass it on or not to end consumers. According to Petrobras, in the case of refineries passing on to consumers the raise fully, gas prices at the pumps should go up 3.4% or BRL 0.12 per liter (USD 0.034) on average. And for diesel the price raise could reach 5.5% or 0.17% per liter.
Petrobras said that the price raise for the refineries was decided based on the increase in international prices of oil and its products and on the depreciation of the exchange rate.
