Vale breaks record in Oman
Pellets production in quarter four last year was the biggest ever at the Brazilian company’s manufacturing plant in Sohar, at 2.5 million tons.
São Paulo – Brazilian mining company Vale’s pelletizing plant in Sohar, Oman hit an all-time high in the fourth quarter of last year, at 2.5 million tons of pellets. The output was 5.6% higher than in quarter three and 63.3% higher than in quarter four 2015, when the plant shut down for maintenance.
Vale said the quarter-on-quarter output hike was due to “productivity gains and increased physical availability at the plant’s facilities during Q4.”
The company’s total Q4 pellets production also reached a record at 12.6 million tons, up 4.5% from Q3 and 21.6% from Q4 2015. A press release from Vale imputed the growth to higher output numbers in Oman and at its Tubarão complex in Vitória, Espírito Santo.
