Overseas spending by Brazilians climbs
February saw Brazilian citizens spend USD 1.360 billion in trips to other countries, whereas foreign tourists disbursed USD 535 million in Brazil.
Brasília – Overseas spending by Brazilian citizens in international trips reached USD 1.360 billion in February, the Brazilian Central Bank reported this Friday (24). The amount is up 61.7% from USD 841 million in February 2016.
In January and February combined, expenditure by Brazilians in foreign trips amounted to USD 2.939 billion, up 74.8% from USD 1.681 billion during the comparable period in 2016.
Conversely, international travellers spent USD 535 million in Brazil in February, and USD 1.196 billion in January and February combined, as against USD 599 million in January 2016, and USD 1.249 billion in January and February 2016.
