Medical industry searching for business in the Arab world
The sector’s association conducted a mission this week to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with the support of the Arab Chamber.
São Paulo – The Brazilian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association (Abimo) conducted this week a business prospection mission in the Middle East and North Africa. With the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the association visited Egypt and Saudi Arabia in search of business opportunities for its members.
In both countries, Abimo’s Clara Porto, manager of projects and marketing, and Rafael Cavalcante, analyst of market access, were accompanied by Rafael Solimeo, International Business executive of the Arab Chamber.
In Egypt, the group visited the healthcare trade show Mediconex and, according to Abimo, met with consulting firms and representatives of the Brazilian embassy in Cairo, with the goal to learn more about regulatory norms and how to do business in the country. They also visited an hospital of the Egyptian capital.
In Saudi Arabia, the group visited Jeddah, the country’s main economic hub, and the capital Riyadh where they visited chambers of commerce, hospitals, companies and other organizations. A trade mission by the sector to Saudi Arabia in the second half of the year is being considered.
According to Abimo, the trip had also the support of the office of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Abimo’s representatives visited also the UAE for meeting with companies and consulting firms that operate in the Gulf region.
