Inflation declined in five capitals

Weekly Consumer Price Index decreased in the majority of the seven capitals surveyed between the first and the second weeks of April.



Rio de Janeiro – The inflation rate as measured by the Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) declined in five of the seven capitals surveyed by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) between the first and second weeks of April. The sharpest drop was registered in Belo Horizonte: 0.26 percentage point, from 0.28% to 0.02%.

The IPC-S also declined in Porto Alegre (0.09 percentage point, from 0.46% to 0.37%), Salvador (0.06 percentage point, from 0.22% to 0.16%), Recife (0.05 percentage point, from 0.65% to 0.60%) and Rio de Janeiro (0.03 percentage point, from 1% to 0.97%). Two capitals registered a slight increase in the inflation rate: São Paulo (0.02 percentage point, from 0.23% to 0.25%) and Brasília (0.01 percentage point, from 0.58% to 0.59%).
