Algiers International Fair opens with more exhibitors

The Algerian prime minister Abdelmalek Sellal opened the trade show this Monday. It features 1,030 participants, up from 810 last year.

Algiers – Algeria’s prime minister Abdelmaled Sellal opened the 50th Algiers International Fair this Monday (8) at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes, in the national capital. The multi-industry exhibition will continue until Saturday (13), Algérie Presse Service (APS) has reported.

The event features 1,030 exhibitors, 494 of which are non-local companies from 34 countries. The Brazilian stand was organized by the Brazilian embassy in Algiers. There are 28 national pavilions featuring 354 companies.

Also represented in the expo are countries including South Africa, Germany, China, Ivory Coast, Egypt, United States, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Libya, Mali, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, the Czech Republic, and Turkey.

The expo is Algeria’s premier industry show. This year, it will be themed “50 years at the service of Algerian economy.” Russia is the guest of honor, with roughly 30 featured companies. Other international companies have their own stands. Total floor space spans 34,000 square meters.

Featured industries include agribusiness, energy, chemicals and petrochemicals, customer electronics, mechanical, iron and steel, and metal industries, construction, and process industries. The organizers also allocated a dedicated area for matchmaking, with 93 exhibitors.

This edition will also mark the opening of the trade show’s museum, which traces back its history through photographs and posters from past editions.

Last year, the fair featured 810 exhibitors, 405 of which were non-local from 33 different countries.
