Brazil’s economic climate improves

A survey conducted by Fundação Getulio Vargas shows a 17-point hike in an index in April from January this year.

Rio de Janeiro – Brazil’s Economic Climate Index (Índice de Clima Econômico do Brasil) climbed 17 points in April from January this year to 79 points. The country is back to outperforming Latin America as whole, whose median score is 78 points.

The numbers were made public this Thursday (11) in São Paulo in the Economic Survey of Latin America (Pesquisa Sondagem Econômica da América Latina) by think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), in partnership with Germany’s Ifo institute, which polls economy specialists in the surveyed countries.

However, Brazil is still trailing four of the 11 Latin American countries covered: Paraguay (133 points), Uruguay (130), Argentina (101), and Colombia (98).
