Industry confidence went up in May

The index surveyed by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) registered 53.7 points in May with an improvement of 0.6 point over April.

Brasília – The Business Confidence Index (ICEI) came in at 53.7 points this month, with an improvement of 0.6 point against April. This increase reverses partially the 0.9 point decline in April. The data from the survey was made available by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) this Friday (19).

In comparison to May of last year, the index improved 12.5 points. However, it hasn’t yet surpassed the historical average of 54 points. An index above 50 points shows a confidente industry segment; below the 50-point line, it shows a lack of confidence by the sector.

The survey was conducted between May 2 and 12 with 3,008 companies. From this total, 1,231 were small companies, 1,097 are of average size and 680 were large companies.
