Public debt climbed 0.26% in May

Brazil’s external and domestic debt went up last month over the previous one. The debt reached BRL 3.25 trillion (USD 1.01 trillion).



Brasília – Brazil’s Federal Publi Debt – which includes domestic and external debt – went up in May. The debt increased 0.26% in May, going from BRL 3.244 trillion (USD 1.01 trillion) in April to BRL 3.253 trillion (USD 1.02 trillion) in May, reported this Monday (26) the National Treasury Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance.

The Internal Federal Public Securities Debt (DPMFi), which is part of the public debt that can be paid in reais, increased 0.22%, going from BRL 3.123 trillion (USD 97 billion) to BRL 3.130 trillion (USD 98 billion). The External Federal Public Debt – DPFe, taken in the global market, increased 1.31% over the results seen in April, ending May in BRL 122.87 billion (USD 327.88 billion).
