Arab Chamber to have actions in the UAE

The organization’s president Rubens Hannun and CEO Michel Alaby visited the Gulf country’s embassy for an in-depth discussion of events to be held in the second half of the year.

São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s president Rubens Hannun and CEO Michel Alaby visited the embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Brasília this Thursday (6), where they had a meeting with the chargé d’affaires Abdelrahman Abdulla Almaazmi.

According to Hannun, besides going over the events of a recent trip to the Gulf, organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and featuring the Arab Brazilian Chamber, he and Alaby discussed actions in the Chamber’s plans for the second half of the year. The goal is to foster Brazil-UAE trade relations.

In the week of September 7, for instance, the Chamber will partner up with the Brazilian embassy in the UAE for a Brazilian products fair at Yas Mall, in the national capital Abu Dhabi. The mall’s management will also be involved and the fair will feature goods by Brazilian companies which are already active in the UAE.

The Chamber is also planning a trip with delegates from Brazilian enterprises operating in the UAE to all seven emirates that comprise the country, in partnership with the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce. These enterprises are said to be too focused on Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the plan is to encourage them to do business in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman, and Umm Qaywayn.

“Of course, if other companies become interested in coming along, the events will be open to them,” Alaby remarked. In other words, both the Yas Mall event and the trip to the seven emirates are intended for companies which are represented in the UAE, but others can join up.

Additionally, August should see a delegation from Ras Al Khaimah travel to Brazil to promote the local free zone.

The meeting with Almaazmi was the last in a series of meetings Hannun and Alaby had with Arab diplomats. On Wednesday (5), they met with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Hisham Alkhatani, of Qatar, Mohamed Alhayki, and of Kuwait, Ayadah Alsaidi.
