Exports by Mercedes do Brasil up

The first half of the year saw a 44% increase in foreign sales of trucks and a 24% increase in foreign sales of buses.



São Paulo – Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, the Brazilian arm of the German carmaker Mercedes Benz, exported 3,965 trucks in the first half of the year, up 44% from H1 2016. It also shipped abroad 3,354 buses, up 24% year-on-year. The numbers were made public this Thursday (13) by the company.

The leading buyer of Mercedes trucks from Brazil was Argentina, followed by Chile and Peru. Argentina was also the primary buyer of buses, with Chile and Mexico trailing in second and third.

The carmaker also said sales to the Middle East and Africa went up. It said truck sales to “continents other” than Latin America climbed by 25% year-on-year in H1, with bus sales going up 55%.
