Emirates recruiting pilots in Brazil

The Dubai-based airline will host a roadshow in São Paulo on July 27 and 28. The company is searching for experienced professionals for freight and passenger flights. Salaries reach up to BRL 37,000 (USD 11,730).



São Paulo – The Dubai-based Emirates Airlines, will hire pilots in Brazil. The company is hosting a roadshow on July 27 and 28 in the city of São Paulo for the selection. The company’s in search of experienced comercial pilots for both freight and passenger flights.

To apply for the job, the candidates need to fulfill a series of technical requirements that are detailed at www.emirates.com/pilots. Among them are for the pilot to have at least seven thousand hours of flying; fluency in writen and spoken English; and minimal experience of one thousand hours flying large aircraft and long-distance flights in the last three years.

The labor contracts are different for freight and passenger pilots. For passenger pilots, the monthly work schedule includes a minimum of eight days off and shifts that alternate between long and ultra-long flights. The trips can vary from one to nine days of duration and the rest period between flights can be from 24 to 48 hours. Days off are taken in Dubai.

Passenger flight pilots is AED 42,695 (USD 11,630). The pilot can opt to accept the company’s lodging offer or receive an additional of AED 16,075 (USD 4,380) per month for rent. The professionals also have 42 vacation days per year.

Freight flight pilots have a 28-days work schedule with 13 days off, flying 500 to 600 hours per year on average. The flights are also alternated between long and ultra-long and usually the trips lasts more than five days. Days off can vary from one to five and are taking in Dubai or other places.

The freight pilot’s salary is AED 35,375 (USD 9,630). In case the pilot opts out of the company’s lodging, there’s an additional of AED 12,500 (USD 3,400) for rent. There are 12 days of vacation per year. All the pilots are hired to live in Dubai.

The salaries announced by the company are tax-free and all the pilots have dental and medical insurance. Currently, the Emirates have over 120 Brazilian pilots and over 800 employees from Brazil overall.

The company has a daily flight between São Paulo and Dubai in an Airbus A380 and from Rio de Janeiro and Dubai in a Boeing 777-300ER.
