Industry sector grew 1.5% in 8 months

Brazilian production ended August with a decline of 0.8% over July, but increased in the first eight months of the year, according to a survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).



Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industrial production ended August with a 0.8% decline over July, in the inflation-adjusted series, but expanded 1.5% in the year’s first eight months. The decline in August over July interrupts four consecutive months of industry growth.

The data from the Monthly Survey of Industry – Physical Production – Brazil was released this Tuesday (3) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and shows that in the non-inflation-adjusted series and in comparison to the same month of last year, the industry sector grew 4% in August. Year-over-year, it registered a decline and ended August at 0.1%.
