Abiec and Arab Chamber offer barbecue in Germany

The stand of the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec) at Anuga, the food sector expo in Cologne, is expected to welcome from 200 to 300 Arab buyers next Tuesday (10) at the Arab Halal Day.

São Paulo – A barbecue with Brazilian halal meat will be offered by the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec) in a partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce to the Arab buyers that will be visiting Anuga, a major food products trade show that will open on Saturday (7) in Cologne, Germany. The event, named Arab Halal Day, is in its second edition.

About a ton’s worth of halal-certified Brazilian beef will be served to Arab patrons in a barbecue restaurant set up in the mezzanine of Abiec’s stand on Tuesday feira (10), the second-to-last day of the trade show. Twenty Abiec-affiliated meat companies will be at Anuga.

Between 200 and 300 buyers from different Arab countries are expected to be at the event, according to Arab Chamber International Business executive Fernanda Baltazar.

“Our role is to gather whatever Arab buyers and distributors are at the exhibition and to get them in touch with the Brazilian exhibitors,” she said. Over 1,000 invitations were sent by the Arab Chamber to food industry players in Arab countries. Fernanda, who’ll be at the event, is also in touch with executives from Middle East and North Africa countries who’ll have standalone stands at Anuga. “Virtually all of the region’s major countries will be there,” she said.

Last year, and also through an Arab Chamber-Abiec partnership, an Arab Halal Day was held at Sial Paris, another major food industry show, to great results, according to the Arab Chamber’s president Rubens Hannun.

“It’s important to be at events that the Arab community is massively present in, and not necessarily in Brazil or in Arab countries. Therefore, we support our members and we help with getting the word out on Brazilian products, not only to Arab buyers, but in other markets as well,” said Hannun.

Fernanda Baltazar revealed that the organization intends to eventually step up its presence in global trade shows in non-Arab countries, as well as have its own stand in them.
