Morocco offers training to travel agents

Brazilian and Portuguese professionals can register in an online platform created for the training on Moroccan tourism. At the end, trips will be randomly selected and awarded to the participants.

São Paulo – Brazilian travel agents can take part in an online training on tourism, offered by the Moroccan National Tourist Office. The training in the digital platform, which also attends Portuguese professionals, was open on October 24 and, in its first 24 hours, had 217 registered agents.

Achachi: trying to increase number of Brazilian tourists

The information was given by the director-general of the Morocco official tourism delegation in Lisbon, Abdellatif Achachi, in an interview to ANBA by phone. The Portugal’s office also takes care of the promotion of Moroccan tourism in Brazil. Achachi expects three thousand professionals, from Brazil and Portugal, to take part in the training.

“It’s the agent that is facing the client, by the computer, phone or in the travel agency, face to face”, said Achachi to ANBA, pointing out the importance of the agents to Morocco. A few years ago, Morocco has been working in the attraction of tourists from Brazil, but according to Achachi, there wasn’t any previously training in a large scale to Brazilians.

The participation in the platform by the professionals allows them to compete to win a trip to Morocco. There’s a need for registration and to, later, take the eight modules offered. The participants will have to answer quizzes. The training ends on December 31, when a draw takes place, but those not interested in the trip will be able to register in another time.

Three trips will be given to Brazilian travel agents and three others to Portuguese agents. The trips will take place between March and April of next year. Each winner will get two airline tickets by Royal Air Morocco, a partner in the promotion, and also hotel stays. And they will get to know the Moroccan tourist attractions. According to the director, it will be a seven-nights package and they should visit either Fez or Marrakech.

Morocco frequently holds actions focusing on the attractions of Brazilian tourists. Among them, the country attends tourism fairs in Brazil and promotes events to show Moroccan culture and tourism. This year, Morocco had a stand in the ABAV Expo, the tourism trade show that was held in September in São Paulo.

In the first eight months of this year, Morocco welcomed near 27,000 Brazilian tourists. There was an increase of 57% over the same period of last year. Achaci expects the country to welcome 40,000 Brazilians until the end of 2017.
