Inflation forecast from banks up

Price hike expectations for this year from Brazilian financial market players edged up marginally from 3.08% last week to 3.09% in this one.

Brasília – The inflation forecast from Brazilian financial market players for this year moved up. The expected hike in the National Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA) changed from 3.08% last week to 3.09% in this one. Four weeks ago, the forecast had been 3%. The new number is from the Focus Bulletin, which covers key economic indicators and was issued this Monday (13) on the Brazilian Central Bank website.

The 2018 IPCA forecast changed from 4.02% to 4.04%. Both the 2017 and 2018 projections are lower than 4.50%, the midpoint of the Central Bank’s 3%-to-6% inflation target range.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to be up by 0.73% this year and 2.50% in 2018.
