Agribusiness GDP should go up 6.3%

Forecast done by the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (CEPEA) shows that the sector will grow due to the performance of agriculture.

São Paulo – The agribusiness Gross Domestic Product (GDP) should grow 6.3% this year, according to a survey conducted by the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (CEPEA) of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ) of the São Paulo University (USP), done in a partnership with the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CAN).

The good performance should receive a boost from agriculture, set to grow 9.2% in 2017, while the livestock sector should decline 0.4%. CEPEA reports that, despite the increase, agribusiness faced a year marked by strong price declines in its products, which pressures the sector’s revenues.
