Tourism companies saw 4.3% growth

A quarterly survey taken by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism showed that corporate revenue widened in Q3, and that 66% of these businesses are planning to make investments this year.

São Paulo – Average revenue for tourism industry companies was up 4.3% year-on-year in Q3 this year. The Brazilian Ministry of Tourism said the minor pickup in the economy was a key driver. Revenue and intent to invest both went up in the seven industry sectors surveyed by the Ministry.

Growth was highest in parks and tourist attractions (11.4%), air travel (11.2%), tour operators (10.3%) and travel agencies (9.3%).

The outlook for Q4 is optimistic: 66% of respondents stated that they plan to invest some of the revenue accrued before 2017 is over. The survey was taken by think tank Fundação Getúlio Vargas.
