Soy exports soar by 581%

The item was a standout component in foreign sales of Brazilian agribusiness products in November at 2.1 million tons shipped and USD 815 million in revenue grossed.

São Paulo – Soy was a key driver of agribusiness industry exports from Brazil in November, with sales going up 581% month-on-month to 2.1 million tons, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply said. Export revenue came out to USD 815 million, up 530% from October.

Maize exports saw a 266% hike in volume, to 3.5 million tons shipped abroad, and a 243.5% increase in revenue, to USD 537 million. Cotton exports were up 69% to 156,000 tons, with revenue going up 75% to USD 252 million.

Total agribusiness exports reached USD 7.08 billion in November, with the industry running a trade surplus of nearly USD 6 nillion. Agribusiness accounted for 42.4% of total exports from Brazil last month. Year-to-date through November, exports reached USD 89.08 billion, up 13% from the year-ago period.
