Industry confidence the highest since 2012

The National Confederation of Industry’s Industrialist Confidence Index climbed 1.8 to 58.3 points, its best score since November 2012.

Brasília – Brazil’s Industrialist Confidence Index (Índice de Confiança do Empresário Industrial - ICEI) was up 1.8 in December from November to 58.3. According to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), this is the best score for the index since it hit 58.4 in November 2012.

The ICEI has been going up since it scored 50.6 last July. The December hike came as a result of improved business conditions and a more positive outlook, CNI said.

The index ranges from 0 to 100, with scores higher than 50 indicating that industrialists are optimistic. ICEI components include current status of respondent’s business, the national economic scenario, and respondents’ expectations regarding both.
