Overseas spending hits USD 1.5 billion

Brazilian citizens spent 32.5% more during international trips last November than a year ago. Expenditure was the highest for the month since 2014.

Brasília – Overseas spending by Brazilians in international trips came out to USD 1.595 billion in November, the highest amount for the month since USD 1.715 billion in November 2014, the Brazilian Central Bank said this Wednesday (20).

Spending was up 32.5% from USD 1.204 billion in November 2016. Year-to-date through November, international travel expenditure by Brazilians reached USD 17.378 billion, up 32.6% year-on-year.

Spending by non-Brazilians during trips to Brazil stood at USD 485 million in November and USD 5.308 year-to-date. Brazil’s international travel account showed a USD 1.11 billion deficit in November and a USD 12.07 billion deficit year-to-date through November.
