Dubai Airport traffic up

The facility welcomed nearly 7 million passengers in November 2017, up 5.6% from November 2016. Year-to-date traffic increased by 5.8% to over 80 million people.



São Paulo – Dubai International Airport (DXB) welcomed nearly 7 million passengers in November 2017, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported this Thursday (4), quoting the monthly report from operator Dubai Airports.

Traffic at the airport reached 6,953,596 passengers, up 5.6% from November 2016. Year-to-date through November, visitor numbers increased by 5.8% compared with January to November 2016, to over 80 million people.

The majority of passengers were from the Indian Subcontinent and Western Europe, at over 1.5 million travelers from each of those regions. Numbers from London and Mumbai, the top-two cities, increased by 7.5% and 8% to 310,551 and 217,279.

For the first time in four months, Saudi Arabia was the second biggest source of travellers at the Dubai International Airport, at 534,906, outranking the United Kingdom’s 507,796. India remains in the top spot at 999,625 travelers.

DXB handled 33,421 flights in November, down 3.7% year-on-year, but average passengers per flight climbed 7.3% to 215.

Freight volume increased by 0.4% year-on-year to 235,651 tons in November, and by 2.7% year-to-date to 2,425,475 tons.
