Brazilians to discuss entrepreneurship in Dubai

‘Doing Business in Dubai,’ an event organized by business owner Ludmilla Figueiredo, will see Brazilian, Portuguese and Angolan expatriates in the UAE get together. Monthly discussions are in the plans as well.

Press Release

Ludmilla Figueiredo is the founder of Rule Number One

São Paulo – Next Saturday (13), entrepreneurs looking to set up a business in the United Arab Emirates can attend Doing Business in Dubai, an event organized by Rule Number One, a company established by Brazil’s Ludmilla Figueiredo. The plan is to have Brazilian, Portuguese and Angolan residents in Dubai discuss, share knowledge and encourage entrepreneurship by the Portuguese-speaking community in the UAE.

“For the joy of many, Portuguese will be spoken at the event,” said Figueiredo, who’s been living in Dubai for almost seven years now. After working on garnering support for Endeavor entrepreneurship – including setting up a Middle East subsidiary –, she founded Rule Number One, an initiative designed to foster entrepreneurship by Brazilian, Portuguese and Angolan expatriates in the UAE.

She plans to have at least one meeting per month. For this first meeting, Figueiredo invited a number of successful Brazilian entrepreneurs in the UAE, such as Fernanda Troy, the founder of Gula Brazil, which sells snacks and sweets in Dubai; and Márcio Saboya, who owns The Açaí Spot, a store chain specializing in the Amazonian fruit.

Panelists will also include Leandro Junqueira of Junqueira Clinic, a plastic surgery clinic in Dubai’s Galleria Mall, and Liliam Fae Pollard of E-Walls Studio, who designs décor items for homes and offices. Figueiredo will perform moderator duties.

After the panel, a Q&A session will take place for audience interaction. “Some 45 people have registered so far,” said Figueiredo, who’s advertising the event on social media communities made up of Brazilian expats. “More than quantity, we are hoping for an audience for whom the subject matter is relevant.”
