Agribusiness exports climb 13%

Foreign sales of agriculture and livestock products from Brazil grossed USD 96 billion last year. The top-selling item was soybeans.

Brasília – Brazilian agribusiness exports fetched USD 96 billion in 2017, up 13% from 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply said this Tuesday (16) .Growth was driven by soy beans, bran and oil, forest products, meats, cereals, flours and concoctions and sugar and ethanol.

The Ministry imputed the hike to the beginning of a rebound in international prices and especially to an increase in shipped amounts. The highest-grossing item was soy beans, bran and oil at USD 31.72 billion. Meats came in second at USD 15.47 billion, up 8.9%. Sugar and ethanol ranked third at USD 12.23 billion.
