Industry optimism the highest since 2011

The index, measured by the National Confederation of Industry, reached 59 points this month, the highest level since April 2011.



Brasília – The perception of industry entrepreneurs over the next six months of the national economy improved in January, reaching 59 points, in a scale that ranges from 0 to 100. Over December of last year, the confidence of entrepreneurs went up by almost a point.

The index was made public this Friday (19) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). According to the survey, the Business Confidence Index (ICEI) on 2018’s first month is above the historical average of 54.1 points and it’s the highest since April 2011.

The positive expectation by the entrepreneurs, as measured by the Expectation Index, also climbed significantly, reaching 62 points in January, the highest level of the last five years. And the entrepreneurs’ perception on current business conditions was of 53 points. The survey shows that this index has been above 50 points for five consecutive months.
