São Paulo – The University Center Estácio do Recife will host in its campus Abadias de Carvalho, in the capital of Pernambuco, the course International Negotiation: Cultural Aspects and their Influences, on Friday (26) and Saturday (27). The first lecture, about negotiations with Arabs, will take place on Friday, at 7:30 pm.

The class will be given by Rada Saleh, agronomist and foreign trade executive of the meats sector. “I work with halal animal proteins for 15 years,” he said. Halal is the product allowed for the consumption of Muslims, and most of the beef and poultry exported by Brazil to the Arab world carries the halal certification.

Saleh is Brazilian, son of a Lebanese country and already lived in Lebanon, Egypt and Algeria, and in the last two he worked as marketing and sales manager of a Brazilian meat processing plant. He continues to work as an executive in the sector in Pernambuco.

Saleh will talk about the internationalization of companies, cultural features and traits, decision-making process and actions taken by the companies in global markets. “What are the factors that prevent or hinder the internationalization of Brazilian companies?”, he said.

The cultural issue and personal relationship are important elements in negotiations with Arab entrepreneurs. The importance of the halal certification of a product is an example, since most of the population of the Middle East and North Africa are Muslims. Personal relationship and the face-to-face talk are also valued actions.

In the same evening, there will be a presentation on negotiations with African countries with Felipe Holanda, who lived for seven years in Ghana and Angola. On Saturday, at 9 am, a panel on international negotiations from the viewpoint of Brazilians and another one on negotiations with Israel are scheduled, and, at 1:30 pm, the discussions will focus on negotiations with Italians and Germans.
