Carnaval could generate USD 3.6 billion

The estimate was made by the Ministry of Tourism, which is also expecting a record number of tourists in Brazil during the holiday.



São Paulo – The Ministry of Tourism believes that this year’s Carnaval will generate BRL 11.4 billion (USD 3.73 billion) and expects a record number of tourists. The data was released this Thursday (25). According to the ministry, 10.69 million Brazilians should travel across the country and 400,000 foreigners are expected to arrive. The ministry considered the period between February 9 to 13.

The most sought-after destinations in Brazil during Carnaval are Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Olinda. These destinations account for 65% of what is generated in the period, according to the ministry.
