Amman airport hits passenger record

The airport in Jordan welcomed over 8 million passengers last year, an increase of 6.8% over 2016.



Amman – The Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), in Amman, Jordan, welcomed 7,914,704 passengers last year, an increase of 6.8% over 2016. The performance was a record for the airport, according to information published this Tuesday (6) by Jordanian news agency Petra.

The aircraft traffic went up 0.4% in the same comparison, to 74,044 takeoffs and landings. Cargo volume climbed 9.1% to 110,416 tons. The most sought-after destinations were Dubai, Jeddah, Cairo, Doha, Kuwait, Riyadh, Istanbul, Beirut and Baghdad.
