Demand for industrial goods up 4.2%

Demand went up in Brazil in 2017 in comparison to 2016, according to index measured by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA).

São Paulo – The Apparent Consumption Indicator of Industrial Goods, measured by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), shows that there was an increase of 2.4% in the demand for industrial goods in December of last year over November, and of 4.2% in 2017 over the previous year.

“The good performance of the demand for industrial goods throughout 2017, with the 10.5% increase in imports being the highlight, confirm the recovery of economic activity,” said Leonardo Mello de Carvalho, the IPEA’s researcher signing the survey, in a statement.
