Exports by Marcopolo up 5%

Brazil’s bus body maker shipped 3,271 units abroad in 2017. The opening of offices overseas, including one in Dubai, fueled deals.

São Paulo – Brazilian bus body maker Marcopolo’s export volume was up 5.1% in 2017 from 2016, it said this Thursday (22), going from 3,111 units in 2016 to 3,271 units last year. The company said the offices it opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Dubai, the UAE began yielding results last year.

Net income reached BRL 2.876 billion (USD 882.6 million), up 11.7% year-on-year, with net profit coming out to BRL 82.1 million (USD 25.1 million). Marcopolo said its numbers reflect both a domestic rebound and the pickup in exports.
