Brazilians spent USD 2 bn abroad

Expenditure by citizens from Brazil in other countries came out to USD 2 billion last month, the Central Bank said. It was the biggest amount since January 2015.

Brasília – Spending by Brazilians during trips to other countries reached USD 2.002 billion in January 2018 – the biggest amount since USD 2.239 billion in January 2015. The numbers were made public this Monday (26) by the Brazilian Central Bank.

January 2016 had seen USD 1.579 billion in spending. In all of 2016, expenditure amounted to USD 19.002 billion.

Spending by non-Brazilians in trips to Brazil reached USD 779 million last month. As a result, Brazil ran a USD 1.223 billion international travel deficit in January.
