São Paulo – Exports by Brazilian agribusiness totaled USD 6.23 billion in February, up 5.2% over the same month of last year, according to data released this Monday (12) by the Ministry of Agriculture. The improvement was the result of an increase of 7.7% in the volume of exports, since the average price of goods exported went down 2.3%.

According to the ministry, soy bran, soy oil, wood pulp, maize, beef and cattle contributed significantly for the improvement in exports.

Among the markets, the highlights are the increase of exports to Egypt (293.5%) due to beef and maize, and to the United Arab Emirates (108.8%), due to sugar.

In the first two months, agribusiness exports generated USD 12.39 billion, the highest amount for the period, according to the ministry. There was an increase of 5% in comparison to 2017’s first two months.
