Expo 2020 is hiring staff via career portal

The world expo has put up a website in which people can send their resumes to work in the event. It takes place from October 2020 to April 2021 in Dubai.

São Paulo – Expo 2020, the world expo to be held in two years’ time in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has put up a website to people interested in working in the event. According to information released by news outlets of the Gulf region, there’s a specific interest in UAE natives, young people and women.

The current staff team of Expo 2020 has 850 people from 57 countries. From these, 454 are the fair’s direct employees and the others are external consultants. The posts to which resumes can be sent range from the most basic up to directors.

“We are looking for ambitious people who want to create a global impact and work in a fast-paced environment where expectations are high,” said the director of Human Resources and Volunteers of Expo 2020, Rita Penteado, according to a statement published by the website of Dubai-based newspaper Gulf News.

According to the fair’s director, it’s seeking flexible and resourceful people, who like to be challenged and have values such as integrity, cooperation, respect, humbleness and excellence. In the career portal of Expo 2020, the jobs offered range from information technology and communication to marketing, design, operations, legal matters, sales, among others.

To apply for a job in the fair, those interested need to register their resumes at the Expo 2020 portal. Penteado says that even if the current openings in the portal are not a match for the skills of the candidates, they can still register and send their resume.

According to a news feature published by the website Zawya, Expo 2020 has been an equal opportunities event for young people and women. From the current employees of Expo 2020, 51% are women and over 100 are under 30 years old. The fair’s organization is also contributing to the UAE government’s strategy of creating job opportunities to local citizens.

The exhibition is organized by the Bureau International des Expositions and in Dubai it will be held from October 2020 to April 2021. It’s one of the most important world events and it welcomes private companies, non-governmental organizations, representatives of the public sector and visitors from across the world to see, discuss and negotiate projects in the technology, urbanism, sustainability and sciences sectors, among others.

Expo 2020 expects to welcome 25 million people, most from abroad. The Dubai edition’s theme will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”
