São Paulo – Maranhão state vice governor Carlos Brandão visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo late this Tuesday afternoon (13). He was welcomed by the Chamber’s president Rubens Hannun and special projects advisor Tamer Mansour.

Brandão was accompanied by state capital São Luís vice mayor Julio Pinheiro, the state’s secretary for Special Programs Pierre Januário, São Luís’s municipal secretary for Institutional Coordination Ana Paula Rodrigues and advisers.

They discussed ways to promote trade between Maranhão and the Arab countries. The Arab Chamber has a partnership with the Port of Itaqui, managed by the state. “We have a large exporting potential due to our localization,” said the vice governor.

The delegation from Maranhão invited the Arab Chamber to participate in events that promote the state’s products and highlighted the region’s touristic potential. A historical city, São Luís is a world heritage site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The Arab Chamber’s executives, in turn, invited the authorities and business persons from Maranhão to attend the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, organized by the Chamber and scheduled for April 2, in São Paulo.
