Brazilians sold US$ 7.4 million at the Big 5
The result was disclosed by the Apex. Businessmen estimated at US$ 38 million the business potential for the coming 12 months, due to contacts made at the fair.
Still according to the agency, the businessmen estimated at US$ 38 million the business potential for the next 12 months, due to contacts made at the fair. During the event, which took place between the 23rd and 27th, 2,790 business contacts were made, and over 7,000 people visited the stand.
"The exhibitors in general evaluated the movement as good, at least the same as last year, a little more to some, a little less to others," stated the Apex project manager, Adalberto Schiehll.
"The new companies, participating for the first time, like those in the metal sector, were greatly satisfied due to the contacts made," added the secretary general at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Michel Alaby. In total, around 57,000 people visited the Big 5.
Apart from the fair itself, Brazilian businessmen marked strong presence at the fair in Dubai over the week. Delegations headed by sector organisations and public organizations, like the International Business Centre, under the National Confederation of Industries and the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina, the government of the Federal District, the Rio Grande do Sul state branch of the Civil Construction Industry Association, the Alagoas State Trade Federation, among others, took around 200 building sector professionals to the emirate.
They visited the fair, participated in talks and seminars and visited enterprises. In the first seminar alone, which took place on Saturday (22), one day before the start of the Big 5, there were 150 people.
The promotion of delegations was the way found to supply the demand of companies that wanted to participate in the fair but could not due to lack of space. The Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Apex asked for a greater area in the 2009 edition. The Marketing Vice President at the Chamber, Rubens Hannun, met with the event organizers to discuss the matter and negotiations should follow in coming months.
The problem is that the fair already occupies all space possible in the Dubai World Trade Centre exhibition pavilion and, until the new building that is under construction is ready, it is hard to get much larger space.
